Plus, many other day-to-day challenges children and young people face difficulties dealing with.
I work with all age groups and specialise in working with children and adolescents aged 4-18. I encourage talking and employ a range of creative methods, expressive arts, play and sand-tray to facilitate communication, help explore underlying issues and together move towards an increased understanding. My approach is integrative which means I can flexibly draw on several theoretical orientations to meet the need of the young person. My training has primarily been in Humanistic and Psychodynamic counselling, but I also apply theory and skills from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as appropriate. An understanding of current neurobiological research underpins all work.
